Portland, Oregon-based alt.country/soul-folk duo Wanderlodge - Matt Cadenelli and Kris Stuart - will celebrate the vinyl release of their debut full-length album, Cypress Mountain Drive, via independent music label Cravedog Records.

Formed in 2016, the duo combined their love of classic rock and country with their own tunes, those of other favorite local songwriters, and a taste for the sunny, country-rock sounds of Los Angeles and its surrounding canyons.

“We met in a bar and hit it off.  We started hanging out right away, it seems like,” says Stuart of the eventual formation of the band.

“I remember at first we thought we were going to be a hot guitar duo, but that didn’t work,” jokes Stuart.  “At some point, I think we both realized that singing together, that’s the most fun of what we do.”

Fans also told them they loved the duo’s harmonies.

“We go play, we go tour and play, and people would say, ‘we love your harmonies, we love your harmonies.’  So we realized that was something that not only we liked, but people gravitated towards,” recalls Cadenelli.

“If there is something people told us that they liked that we didn’t like, we wouldn’t lean into it.  It’s kind of perfect,” adds Stuart.

After touring for a few years, the duo met Eric Patterson and Dylan Nicholson, of Morro Bay, California’s The Turkey Buzzards.  The result is the forthcoming vinyl release of Cypress Mountain Drive, a record engineered by Eric Patterson.

“Eric lives on like a hundred acres at 4,000 feet down outside San Luis Obispo and it’s one of the most magical places in the world.  They’re magical dudes and they make great records there at the house, surrounded by incredible nature and red-tailed hawks.  So, we decided to make a record there.  Why not?  Cypress Mountain Drive is the road to get up to this place,” comments Cadenelli.

The 12-track collection of songs sways with beautiful harmonies, opening with the slow, steady stomp of “I Want More.”

“The Truth '' glows with warmth, recalling classic Americana with a melodic, soothing beat.  “Sasha No Barking” is a danceable, bluegrass-rock instrumental jam.  “Green Volvo” is laid back and breezy, while the soul-shine of “The River Don’t Care” (“Soutshine,” another track on the album, does as well) gets your toes tappin’ and your mouth singing along with the harmonies.

Ending with the late-night melancholy of “Sad Song A Day,” Wanderloge continually demonstrates their talent in injecting a soulful brand of Americana into traditional roots music.

With a physical product soon to be released to the world, Wanderlodge is gearing up to tour and hit the road, as much (and as often) as they can, doing what they do best - singing together and providing beautiful melodies and sunshine moves to those in attendance.
